RIP Genie Hammond

Genie Hammond who was my teacher for several years died this year aged 88. She faced the confusion of Alzheimer’s with Iyengar yoga as part of her daily life. In her nursing home she was still encouraging all she met to improve their posture and really live. Genie started Iyengar Yoga in midlife but her down to earth teaching has touched many thousands of practitioners, not only in her native London, but also in Spain and South America as Jose Maria of Malaga Iyengar Yoga touchingly explained at her wake. Whether you are at the bus stop, at the checkout, at your desk you can focus on your posture and breathe well.
